Hydrolysis - RO Membranes
Advanced Reverse Osmosis Technology
Hydrolysis - Chemical breakdown of a membrane
from exposure to low or high pH, bio-activity and temperature. Normally
associated with CA
membranes where the acetyl groups are replaced by hydroxyl groups.
Hydrolysis in increased salt
leakage (i.e., greater conductivity of the permeate) and a lower
feed pressure requirement. Oxidants and temperature can cause hydrolysis
in TFC elements.
